Alaska Airlines lost-luggage handler refuses to give up

Down in Seattle, in an Alaska Airlines warehouse lined with shelves upon shelves, is the limbo land of luggage lost -- bags that, through one screw-up or other, ended up with a travel itinerary different than their owners'. Items left on planes wind up here too.

You wouldn't believe the stuff that's passed through this place: A didgeridoo. A voodoo doll. A shrunken head. Naughty nightwear and related bedtime accessories.

"Is there anything unusual in your bag?" travelers filing MIA reports are asked.

Sharyn Evans is one of five full-time customer service agents whose job it is to convert the lost into the found. Typically, once things wind up in here, if their owners can't be found in 90 days, that's it. They're gone, sent off to the baggage equivalent of the Witness Protection Program.
