Alaska Airlines' Picnic Packs now in Coach

In-flight food can be scarce these days, but Alaska Airlines seems set on making it more available and healthier.

The carrier with the smiling Eskimo on the tail is now offering its $5 Picnic Packs in Coach on flights less than four hours. Heretofore, you've only been able to buy them on sojourns longer than four hours.

The Anytime Picnic Packs are designed for folks on the go. They are light, energy-packed, and comparatively healthy.

Fork over $5 for a pack containing salami, cheese, two kinds of crackers, dried apricots, sunflower seed spread, jam, a dark chocolate sandwich cookie, and Energen-C energy drink mix. None of this stuff contains trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, MSG, or artificial colors of flavoring.
