Check out the colors on the short hike to Long Lake

The trail to a long lake called Long Lake, but labeled Meridian Lake on the map, is short.

In fact, it’s just a short burst uphill from the Gunnison County Road 811 near Crested Butte. But while the hike to Long/Meridian Lake is short, the lake itself is long and beautiful. So is the scenic byway that takes you there from Grand Junction, Montrose and Delta — Kebler Pass.

Funny thing, today is Color Sunday here in Colorado, and Kebler Pass is one of the finest driving tours in the state this time of year. From the looks of things last week, I don’t think the aspen colors are at their peak yet, but they’re turning fast, and the aspen forest that Kebler Pass passes through will be spectacular.
