Travel and tourism declining

Toronto - The surging loonie is one more blow to the tourism on this side of the border.

Statistics Canada has found that overnight travel from the U.S. dropped 6 per cent. It may not seem like much but that's it's lowest level in over 22 years.

Stats Can said Americans made only 1.1-million overnight trips to Canada in July, about 81,000 fewer than in June.

Andrew Wier with Tourism Toronto admitted the industry is taking a hit, so he has set his sights a little higher.
